My name is Shaylin, and I was born on December 10, 1997 in Durban, South Africa. When I was four years old, my parents had a vision to raise me in a free, safe, and friendly country that offered equal opportunity, hence our relocation to Regina. My life over the last 14 years has been shaped by academic and sporting influences.

Academically, my highlight and passion has been participating in the Campbell Collegiate Business Club since Grade 9 and culminating this year with the honour of being elected as president of the club. I embrace and benefit from our motto, “Create, communicate, collaborate,” and know I will continue to do so for the rest of my life. My achievement in the science field has been attending the NYSF in Australia in 2014.

High school football had a huge impact on my character development and led to me receiving the Citizenship Award this season. My water polo interest started early in elementary school, and I have played with Team Saskatchewan for several years. A highlight was being selected in 2011 to play with Team Canada, leading to travel and games in Europe. I still maintain interest in competitive play as well as refereeing and mentoring.

I am honoured to be selected for the Twelfth Year program. I thank all of my teachers and coaches for their guidance. Finally, I have to thank my parents because without their insight from 14 years ago, I would never have become the person I am today.
