My Indian name is Sunset Woman. The name I was given at birth is Shaunice Tapaquon. I come from Cowessess First Nations and from a loving and caring family, who have watched and helped me grow into the person I am today. I am currently in Grade 12 and just a few steps away from graduating in early April.

My partner and I are also expecting a precious baby boy to arrive on April 25, 2017. Is that not the greatest gift of all? I can thank so many people (my grandparents, my mother, my partner, my friends and Scott Collegiate staff) who have supported me throughout the months and hard times!

I plan to attend post-secondary education in the coming fall to go into the field of becoming an RN, something I’ve always wanted to do. I know I can achieve this goal because I have already come this far. Always remember, the sky is the limit!
