Santana – Martin Collegiate

I am Santana, a Grade 12 student attending Martin Collegiate. Throughout my entire life, I have been involved in many activities, including synchronized swimming, dance, gymnastics, soccer, basketball, softball, diving, piano, choir, track and field, violin, and hockey. I have a couple of records in indoor track and won third place in high school cross-country provincials. In June, I am taking my ARCT Performer’s Degree for violin. I have played both the game of hockey and violin since I was three years old, and I grew equally attached to both activities. I played Tier One hockey with the boys’ teams until my first year of Bantam. I have played Midget AAA for four years of high school. Both hockey and music have given me opportunity to travel and develop my skills. In 2015, I was a member of the winning Saskatchewan First Nations team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. That same year, I played violin with the League of Astonishing Strings orchestra that toured China in April.

Big dreams mean a busy lifestyle with constant training. I am currently the captain of the Regina Rebels female midget AAA hockey team. I am also a certified lifeguard and water safety Instructor. I love teaching swim lessons at the beach in the summer. In my “down” time, I enjoy hanging at the beach, wake surfing with my friends and playing with my dog.

Next fall, I will attend St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia on a hockey and academic scholarship.
