Privilege―ignored by many but embraced by others.
My name is Rajvir, and I am a student at Martin Collegiate. I have attended here for the last one and a half years. As indicated by my name, my family is not from Canada. My dad, mother, brother, and I were all born in India, the place I called home for the first nine and a half years of my life. My birthplace and my life have taught me that I am a person born into privilege. With privilege, comes great responsibility to do the best I can with what life has given me.
Over the past two years, I have made studying a higher priority. I have decided to pursue science and politics at Simon Fraser University.
I am grateful for the support of my family, here in Canada and in India, who have believed in me. I would also like to thank my friends in British Columbia and Saskatchewan for accepting me for the person I am. I intend to always remember privileges are not a given.
