Minyeong (Jenny) B.
Luther College High School
My name is Jenny Baek and I am a Grade 12 student attending Luther College High School! I
was born in South Korea, but I have been lucky enough to experience diverse cultures. Coming
to Canada has given me a chance to learn new languages. I first learned French when I lived in
Montreal for two years before coming to Regina, and I plan to continue learning it. Studying in
Canada has also been a turning point in my life since it has changed me as an individual. I was
an extreme introvert when I started my Grade 9 year at Luther, but I have transitioned into a
student who knows how to be a leader. I may be a quiet student in a class, but I am an active
member of the Luther community outside classes. I have been the co-leader of my school’s
Language Exchange Club since Grade 11 with the belief that learning new languages is a way to
learn new cultures. Besides, I am a member of the dorm council at my school. Being an
international student myself, I hope to help other international students who strive to adapt to a
new environment. Lastly, I have come to grow my passion for cosmetic science as I studied
chemistry at Luther. Accordingly, I will be studying chemistry as my major at university and hope
to pursue a career in cosmetic science!
