Marika – F.W. Johnson Collegiate

Hello; I’m Marika, a Grade 12 student at F.W. Johnson Collegiate. I have been on the Student Representative Council for the last three years and I am the SRC president this year. I am a determined student and I have natural leadership qualities.

I have been actively involved in my school with the SRC, drama production, curling, Anti-racist and Cross-cultural Team (ACT), school choir and as a Grade 9 homeroom leader and emcee for our Remembrance Day program. Being involved in school allows me to make new friends and open my doors to new experiences.

One of my goals is to travel. I spent six weeks in Europe in 2014 travelling through the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Germany. Those six weeks have planted a seed deep inside of me to travel more. Last summer, I explored new territory of hosteling on a trip to Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have wanted to be a nurse. Being a nurse appeals to me because I love to help and work with people. My family and friends have described me as a caring and compassionate person. After sitting with my grandfather in the hospital and helping him, it affirmed my lifelong aspiration to be a nurse.

I love experiencing and learning new things, and I’m looking forward to my future!
