My name is Makena Ricard. I made Campbell my home in grade ten after spending the last nine years of school about an hour and a half away. I have been a wrestler since my mom pushed me into it in grade four. The practice room quickly became my whole world. By grade nine my family and I decided to commit one hundred percent to my dream of being a high level athlete. Since we made that decision I have been travelling back and forth from my home town to Regina for school and training. My decision almost four years ago has turned into one of the best opportunities I have ever had. I have met amazing people, accomplished so many of my dreams, and become a whole new person. I believe that as a student you have the opportunity to mindlessly walk through your day or commit yourself to being something great in every step you take. You can view each day as a routine you have to follow or you can find something you love and commit every ounce of yourself to it and possibly end up with something amazing in the end. While this past year wasn’t what I expected for my senior year, or final season, it’s what I got. So despite all the ups and downs of this year, I continue to devote myself to my commitment in hopes that it will keep to leading me to new incredible people and experiences.
