Kyra L.
Scott Collegiate
My name is Kyra and I am from Cowessess First Nation. I am the youngest in my family and the second daughter of my parents to be graduating from Scott Collegiate. I am very proud to be the first in my family to be chosen for the Twelfth Year Photography. Without my family I wouldn’t be where I am in life right now. Of course, I really owe it to myself for everything I’ve accomplished, but I also owe a big part of it to my family.
One big thing about me is that I love basketball. Basketball is something that I really enjoy. It helped me through a lot of things off of the court. Being on a team helped me improve my leadership skills, social skills, and taught me important life lessons. Besides sports I work as a mentor with Growing Young Movers and also at Regina Public Library – Albert branch.
Overall, I will miss everything from high school, but I am excited to be graduating this year. I was recently accepted to UBC, and I am now starting to plan my move to Vancouver to start school in fall. Specifically, I was accepted into the NITEP (Indigenous Teachers Education Program). Teaching isn’t something I’ve always wanted to do, but my plan is much bigger. After I finish my degree, I want to teach overseas so with the bachelor’s degree, I think it’ll make things much easier. Moving out of Regina is something I’ve always dreamt of, so moving to Vancouver is definitely like a dream come true.
