Grace Newman
Luther College High School
My name is Grace Newman and I am a graduating student at Luther College High School for the 2022 school year. Back in 2018 I was given the opportunity to attend Luther on a full scholarship. After facing adversities at home, I wanted to take advantage of the new possibilities that were available to me. Over my years at Luther, I’ve been involved in recreational volleyball, playing for and managing the girls basketball team and even took part in synchronized skating outside of school. As well I’ve been in one act plays, on improv teams and in all the fall musicals. It was very important to me to receive the best education I could, so I decided to enroll in the IB diploma program. So in June I will graduate with my IB diploma as well as my Luther diploma. The entire high school experience goes beyond just myself, that’s why I got involved with the student representative council to vouch for and represent the students. School hasn’t always been easy, at one point I was working three part time jobs! However, being involved with the school community has been a great balance for me, and I’m so glad to have been given the chance to go to Luther. Once I graduate I plan on continuing my education and studying astronomy and astrophysics in university. Overall I am honoured and so thankful to have been picked as one of this year’s twelfth year students!
