My name is Emalee Mcknight, and I’m currently a grade 12 student at Michael A. Riffel High School. These past 4 years have been dedicated to working hard to achieve a 90%+ average and making a positive difference within my community. This includes taking part in extra-curricular school activities including soccer, as well as volunteering my time with the SaskAbilities summer camp. Since I was little, I also have been collecting cans and bottles at my parents’ ball games and tournaments and have taken this money each year and donated it back to local charities.
Outside of school, I love to play soccer on my family team or bringing out my creative side through painting and other art forms. Everyone needs a good lazy day, and for me, these consist of lying in bed and catching up on RuPaul’s Drag Race (#shantayyoustay)or watching a crime documentary.
As for what is next, I’m looking to pursue a career in nursing as an RN, with a goal to work in the ER or psychiatric unit. I’ve wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember and have even had nursing textbooks on my bookshelf since age 7 to prove it. This career interests me, as it gives me the opportunity to use my compassion and brain to make a difference in people’s lives.
