Chloe Smith

Martin Collegiate

My name is Chloe Smith, a student from Martin Collegiate. If you know me you know that I have an all or nothing attitude, if I involve myself in something I will give everything I have. Throughout my life my passions have changed, however I always have something on the go. I choose to photograph my longest standing passion- Ukrainian dance.

I started Ukrainian dance when I was 5 years old, after attending Mosaic and telling my mom I wanted to dance with “the girls with the long ribbons and the bright red boots”. After 12 years I accomplished my goal and I’m dancing with the girls I saw years ago- I am one of them. Now that I have completed what my younger self wanted, my passion has changed to educating youth about their passions and helping them succeed. At my studio, I still dance myself in our ensemble, and I am taking steps towards my new passion by assisting with two of our younger classes and instructing our youngest kids.

Outside of dance, I work a lot within Martin doors, as a member of our SRC, GSA, and music programs. I’ve been in GSA all throughout high school, educating and advocating for other members, and the whole school. I strive to have good grades however, music is what keeps me at Martin. I participate in all music classes, my passion for music has only grown throughout high school, leading me to be a mentor in music for Martin.
