Caitlyn – Balfour Collegiate

My name is Caitlyn, and I am incredibly honoured to take part in this year’s Twelfth Year program! I am currently completing my Grade 12 year at Balfour Collegiate. In my 18 years of life, I have been passionate about many things, whether that being reading almost every book in the “teen” section at Chapters, striving to be the best person I can be, or taking advantage of the education being given to me.

Like other teenagers my age, it took me a while to become dedicated in my education, but I have grown into a determined young woman who wants to make a difference in the quality of my life. I have always been independent. I moved away from home when I was 16 and have been living on my own ever since. I moved halfway across Canada to British Columbia for a year and came back to Regina last year. I have a job in retail which is one of the better jobs I’ve had since I started working four years ago.

Once I graduate, I wish to pursue a career in science―biology, in particular. When I receive my science degree, I wish to carry on into medical school to become a doctor. Being an OB/GYN is a scary and exciting dream that I have.

I’d like to give a huge thank you to all of my teachers and the staff I got to know and learn from throughout my time at Balfour. It’s been a fun ride.
