Brooke H.

Martin Collegiate

My name is Brooke and I am a 2023 graduate from Martin Collegiate. Throughout the past four years at Martin I have been involved in several extra-curricular activities, as well as helping out with my community as much as I can. I have been playing basketball for seven years and it has had such a positive impact on my life. It has not only taught me lessons and skills on the court but also off the court, in my everyday life. I am also an experienced and dedicated lifeguard, which has helped me develop valuable experience and a passion for keeping people safe.

After high school I will be attending the University of Regina to study in the faculty of science along with getting a Bachelor’s degree in biology. With this degree and knowledge I hope to get into medical school and to someday succeed in my life-long goal of becoming a Neurosurgeon. I have always been committed to my work and have been interested in learning about the brain. The brain is the most complex part of the human body, making it the most fascinating. I am aware that pursuing a career as a Neurosurgeon is very difficult. It takes many years of commitment, training, and hard work.

My family as well as friends have shown immense support and have helped shape me into the person I am today. However, my Great Grandpa had a significant impact on my life. He said that when his brain needs some work, he hopes I’m the one to fix it. Sadly, he passed away over a year ago, but he inspired me to be the best person I can be and he taught me to believe in myself and follow my dreams.
