Astika Bhandari
F.W. Johnson Collegiate
Imagine growing up in an environment surrounded by intellectuals who constantly push you to your limits and challenge you to do your absolute best. My name is Astika Bhandari and that is the beautiful reality of my life. Being raised in a family that highly values hard work, I grew up with the same mindset, which has motivated me to seek excellence throughout my life. At the age of 9, my family and I immigrated to Canada from our country, Nepal. My culture is extremely important to me as it has shaped me into the diverse and open minded person that I am today.
With the hopes of getting into medicine and creating a successful future for myself, I prioritize my education which has pushed me to be resilient and has allowed me to maintain a high GPA and obtain academic excellence. Alongside my school life, I have been able to balance work, extracurricular activities, as well as community involvement. Throughout the years, I have pursued various activities, ranging from, working with the school’s FIAP program, taking part in the school and community badminton team, business case club, choir, setting up a holiday event for residents and their families at a local care home, as well as, routinely volunteering at a local cultural organization where I organize event schedules as an MC and often learn and perform dances. Using all of the knowledge and experiences that I have gained, I am excited to see where my future will take me.
