My name is Alaa; I was born in Syria, moved to Calgary and finally to Regina. I attended pre-school at Regina Huda and have been there ever since. I will be graduating from Huda this June!
At five years old, my parents told me I would become a doctor when I grew up. Since then, I have been working towards my goal; if for a day I changed my mind and wanted to be a firefighter or a ballerina, I would always come back to medicine. In my house, the importance of academics was always underlined.
My religion is one of the biggest things in my life. I am ecstatic to be part of an Islamic awareness group: students who introduce Islam, its principles and basics to others.
I plan to attend the University of Regina in the Faculty of Kinesiology. After completing my degree, I hope to move to Saskatoon for medical school to become a cardiologist!
I am honoured to have been chosen to be recognized for the Twelfth Year Youth Salute Award. I want to thank my parents who have been pushing for my success my whole life!
