My name is Yujing, and I’m from a school which enlightened me to just be myself—Balfour Collegiate!
If being trained as a classical pianist since the age of five has taught me one thing, it is perseverance; if serving in community and school has taught me one thing, it is dedication; and if a life of being the only child from a Chinese immigrant family which has been in Canada for two years has only taught me one thing, I’d say being humble is one of the most important keys to success, and there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance!
I truly believe in Gladwell’s 10,000-hours rule, as we all are some “practitioners” of some kind, that the more you practice, the better you are bound to become. When you push yourself, you may be surprised to see how much you’ve grown!
I want to sincerely give a huge thank you to all of my teachers, friends and family who have been supporting me. I would never be the person I am today if no one was there for my athletic, academic or musical achievements and performances, and I would never take any of these for granted!
