Winston Knoll Collegiate

Hi, my name is Victoria also known as Vic, Vicky-G, Gong-show, Tori, Ria.

Growing up in a new country, my involvement with the YMCA allowed me to integrate into my community. Within ten years, I went from taking swimming lessons to being a part of The Leaders Program, volunteering with aquatics/summer camps. Eventually, I held a fulfilling part-time job as a youth instructor at my local YMCA.

As a well-rounded student, I have always been interested in both athletics and arts. Throughout my four years at Winston Knoll Collegiate, I have been a part of the WKC soccer, cheer, basketball, SRC, Best Buddies, musical, choir, symphonic band, as well as many other involvements in and outside of school.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I individually fundraised through my community and donated over 180 lbs of essential non-perishable food items and $100.00 in donations to the local Food Bank to support families and individuals in need. Aside from the pandemic’s economic effects, I also noticed increased social tension and prejudice against racial minorities. This urged me to initiate “Knollsaic” for the 2020-2021 school year, an initiative to encourage WKC students to learn about different cultures and foster respect and unity.

I am happy to say that I will be attending the University of British Columbia later this year studying Food, Nutrition, and Health – with the intention of pursuing dentistry.

Winston Knoll Collegiate has given me growth and many opportunities, and I am glad to say that I am a proud Wolverine.
