Matthew – Winston Knoll Collegiate
My name is Matthew Schroeder, and I attend Winston Knoll Collegiate in Regina. When I am not involved in academic pursuits, I enjoy participating in many sports, including kayak racing, high school football and downhill ski racing. Competing in sports has taught me how to organize and manage my time as well as how to work towards a goal. Involvement in sports has helped to shape my character by teaching me how to be a member of a team and how to focus my efforts for both my personal best and for the advancement of the team. I have had the opportunity to win in sports and to experience the pride in knowing that my persistence and hard work have paid off. As well, sports have taught me how to accept defeat by staying positive and by never giving up on my dreams.
I believe my participation in team and individual sports, along with staying focused on academics, has helped to prepare me for future challenges. It is with great anticipation that I look forward to attending the University of Regina in the fall of 2016 to pursue my dream of becoming an Industrial Systems Engineer.
