Lily Jackson

Martin Collegiate

Wayne Gretzky once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”, and this quote applied to me when I entered the Twelfth Year Program, and in many other aspects of my life.

My name is Lily Jackson and I am currently a Grade 12 student at Martin Collegiate. I am a student athlete, and have played softball, flag football, volleyball, archery, and my favorite sport, ringette. Ringette has been a huge part of my life, and I’ve put in a lot of work on and off the ice to improve my skills. I’ve competed in Provincial and Western Championships, and refereed the game as well.

During my high school years, I have put a lot of work into my academics. In my grade 11 year, I achieved an average of 99.57%, which was the highest in my grade. I enjoy helping out in the community: I’ve been on the SRC for four years, and have volunteered at Sunset United Church.

Despite being heavily involved in academics and sports, I consider myself a creative person and enjoy art and music. I have taken piano lessons for over 10 years, and have MC’d many recitals in addition to playing in them. I enjoyed taking art classes throughout high school, which greatly improved my drawing and painting skills; two of my final projects are on permanent display inside the school.

I am extremely grateful for the lessons and skills I learned throughout high school, and I’m excited for what the future holds.
