Jessica L.
Balfour Collegiate
Hello! My name is Jessica, and I am a student of Balfour Collegiate. I am an academically focused student, and I have always loved learning. I have tried my best to help out at the schools I am attending how I am able to, whether that be through SLC or just by taking down old posters. I possess a passion for the natural world around me, and have spent many summer evenings stargazing, looking at interesting rocks I come across on walks, or just learning about plants and animals. For this reason, I would like to major in geology and, if possible, minor in astronomy, once I am in college. During the spring break of 2021, I came down with Covid-19, and symptoms persisted after the infection had run its course. I now live with Long Covid, and have had to adjust how I live my life now that I have to deal with the memory problems and long-term fatigue that come with Long Covid. It has been an eye-opening experience, and has changed how I deal with the world now that I have very little energy to be able to do things during the day. In the wake of this, I have begun trying to examine things with accessibility in mind, and I hope to be able to help others with day-to-day living difficulties in the future, whether that be through petitioning, a job, or just helping people around me figure out strategies to live with their problems.
