Isabella F.

Lumsden High School

Hello, my name is Isabella. I’ve been a student at Lumsden High School for the last four years, and during that time, I’ve made it my mission to have the best experience possible. I was never really involved in school sports because I have always had a job and the fact that I work before and after school full time made it hard to play sports. I wanted to start working when I was young to ensure that I would be stable in the future and not have to worry. The most significant aspects of my life have always been my family and friends, for whom I would give up anything for. My great grandma passed away in September and shortly after that we found out my mother had breast cancer which made it a very difficult year for my family. After that we struggled, especially my mother, as we had to accept that she would need to undergo a traumatic surgery and then do chemotherapy. So while I was studying the five most difficult subjects I needed  in order to enroll in dental hygiene, I was also working full-time before and after school and still managed to make an effort to visit my mother in the hospital every day. Since then, I have taken care of my mother as best as I can. To express my support for people like my mom, I have donated to numerous cancer research organizations and given clothes, teddy bears, and much more.
