Duncan
While at Sheldon-Williams Collegiate, I have been involved in the Student Leadership Council. I was a Grade 9 representative, Grade 10 member and Grade 11 leader. In Grade 12, I am President. While on Council, I have been involved in special projects such as raising funds for new water fountains, organizing spirit day activities, Teacher Appreciation Week activities and school assemblies.
At Sheldon, I have been very involved in extracurricular activities such as volleyball, improv, curling, badminton, chess club, golf, track & field, Frisbee, handball, soccer and Outdoor Club. I have played competitive soccer with RSA for many years. My favourite pastimes are snowboarding and outdoor activities such as fishing and camping.
Music has played a huge role in my life at Sheldon. I have been involved in Concert and Jazz Band since Grade 9. While in band, I have had the opportunity to learn to play several instruments such as the French Horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, and Bari-Sax. I have performed in several concerts and attended band trips to improve as a musician. I have been in the Pit Band in Grades 10 and 11 for the school musicals. I also play piano and violin.
My volunteer work outside of school includes coaching U8 boys soccer with Regina Soccer Association, special projects with Wascana Centre Authority, and Friends of Wascana Junior Board Member. For the past five years, I have been involved with the MAPS program where I band song birds early in the spring and summer mornings. I have been recently awarded the Governor General’s Award for Caring for my leadership at school and volunteer work in the community.
