Annaliese – Sheldon-Williams Collegiate

My name is Annaliese Beck-McKenzie, and I am a Grade 12 student at Sheldon-Williams Collegiate. Throughout high school, I have been actively involved in Sheldon’s musical activities, including band, jazz band, choir, vocal jazz and chamber choir. In addition, I am the Secretary of the Student Leadership Council, a student leader of the environment club, and a member of the cross-country team, and I have both acted in and stage managed our school’s musical productions. I show the same dedication and work ethic in my academics. I am studying a broad range of subjects, and I have earned the top academic award for three years in a row.

Outside of school, I am studying Grade 10 piano. Along with technical and performance skills, I have learned life lessons from my piano education, including the importance of perseverance, viewing imperfection as a learning opportunity, and finding joy in challenging myself.

Within the community, I enjoy volunteering in the pediatric ward of the Regina General Hospital and as a concert host for the Cecelian Concert Series. I am also a lead vocalist in the youth band at my church. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had and for the support of my family, friends and teachers.

In the future, I plan on pursuing a career in medicine and hope to work with humanitarian organizations. With my desire to learn about the world and explore new passions, I am sure that my life will take some different and exciting paths.
