Abdi – Regina Huda School

I am Abdirahim Absher, more commonly known as Abdi. I am overwhelmed at how fast the last four years at Regina Huda School have gone. Along my journey in high school, I have had the opportunity to meet many wonderful people who I will treasure for the rest of my life. I enjoy playing soccer and basketball and volunteering to make my community better.

My family is originally from Somalia, but we lived in Syria and Saudi Arabia before finally immigrating to Regina in 2006. I am blessed to have had such a diverse upbringing as it has shaped me into an open-minded and well-cultured person.

Attending Regina Huda School throughout my high school career has not only made sure I am performing academically at a high level, but also has kept me intact with my roots and faith.

My family is a huge part of everything I do. Watching the struggles my mother has gone through to allow me to live a life with the comfort and ease I do today only motivates me more to accomplish my long-term goals to try and repay her one day.

Coming to Canada, my family and I knew it was a land of opportunity. Keeping that in mind as I start the next chapter in my life, I will be attending the University of

Saskatchewan this fall, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, majoring in health studies, in hopes of one day becoming a family physician.
