Ellery Nelson

Thom Collegiate

My name is Ellery Nelson and I am a French Immersion Senior at Thom Collegiate. I’ve been speaking French for going on 13 years and I’m proud of being bilingual. I’ve grown to love the language and it has become an important part of my life. Immersion has given me many opportunities and I’ve won several awards for my hard work. I was lucky enough to participate in Canada’s History’s Young Citizens program and travel to Ottawa in November of 2016.

As for my future, I will study at the University of Regina for a year. After that, I plan to study forensic pathology, forensic anthropology, or forensic psychology out of the province. I’ve always been fascinated by the human body and mind. True crime media and even fiction sparked my interest in the science behind solving crimes. It also gives me an opportunity to study human anatomy.

Writing is one of my biggest joys in life and I always have several stories on the go. I also love experimenting with many kinds of art mediums and styles. I hope to continue to develop my creative skills for many years to come. I am an advocate for marginalized youth as part of Thom Collegiate’s anti-racism team where we organize different events to raise awareness about racism, bullying, homelessness, and other humanitarian causes to make our school and community a better place.
